Bogota, Apr 14 (efe-epa).- Spain’s Lara Arruabarrena defeated Slovenia’s Dalila Jakupovic 6-1, 6-2 in 48 minutes to advance to her second consecutive Claro Open Colsanitas final on Saturday.
She will play Slovakia’s Anna Schmiedlova, who beat Romania’s Ana Bogdan 6-3, 6-2.
The Spaniard easily beat Jakupovic, who had beaten Poland’s Magda Linette 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 in the quarter-finals, in a match that was moved from Friday to Saturday morning due to rain.
Arruabarrena continued her good form in the Colombian capital, which has seen her win four games so far against Mexico’s Victoria Rodriguez, compatriot Sara Sorribes, Sweden’s Johanna Larsson and Jakupovic without dropping a set.
The 26-year-old, ranked 79, will be hoping to add a second title at Bogota after winning the tournament in 2012 against Russia’s Aleksandra Panova. She lost to Italy’s Francesca Schiavone in last year’s final.
Sunday’s final will be the second time Arruabarrena and Schmiedlova meet, after their first round meeting at Indian Wells in 2014, which the Slovak won.
Schmiedlova beat Bogdan in one hour and 26 minutes to make it to her first WTA final in nearly three years, and will be looking to bag her third career WTA title after those in Katowice (Poland) and Bucharest in 2015.
